Porcelain Inlays/Onlays in Thornton

Safely Replacing Dental Decay

Are you considering replacing dental decay with inlays or onlays?

There are many different materials that both inlays and onlays can be made of including gold or silver, ceramic, composite resin, or porcelain. At Trembath Dentistry, we only do porcelain onlays and inlays because we want your treatment to last you longer than just a few years.

Additionally, our inlay and onlay procedure can easily be performed in one appointment. (This means that you won’t have to take extra time off work for your treatment!)

How Are Inlays and Onlays Applied

Inlays and onlays are applied right in the comfort of our Thornton, CO dental office. Your doctor will:

  • Remove your old filling or decay from the tooth.
  • Create a digital impression of your tooth to ensure proper fit.
  • Send the impression to the milling unit to be made. (In the meantime, you can sit back and relax! We have a TV for you to enjoy or a plethora of magazines to skim through.)
  • Ensure the onlay or inlay fits perfectly.
  • Bond the porcelain inlay or onlay to the tooth with a strong resin.

Considerations For Inlays & Onlays

There are many things to consider when it comes to getting porcelain inlays and onlays. Here are just a few of the top dental considerations:

  • Longevity: Both porcelain inlays and onlays last 10+ years, and they are known to last longer than composite resin and ceramic.
  • Health of Your Teeth: Inlays and onlays that are made of porcelain increase the strength of a tooth versus traditional fillings. Inlays and onlays both have a lower chance of failing than traditional fillings.
