CEREC Technology in Thornton

Advanced Dentistry You Can TRUST

Do you need a dental restoration, but you don’t have time off to take multiple trips to the dentist’s office?

With CEREC technology, we are able to perform dental treatments that would otherwise require a follow-up visit (like placing cosmetic veneers, dental crowns, and removing defective amalgam fillings) all in just one visit!

This technology also ensures that your dental restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored, so no one will be able to tell the difference between the restoration and your natural teeth. With CEREC technology, you can smile confidently knowing that your teeth are set for a future of smiles.

How CEREC Technology Compares

Compared to other restorative materials, CEREC technology stands out amongst the rest. Here are the main benefits of CEREC compared to other materials:

  • A single visit
  • Done without impression materials
  • No temporary required
  • Metal-free
  • Looks and feels like natural teeth
  • Esthetic
  • Saves natural tooth structure
  • Restores original strength
  • Permanent solution

Exam and Preparation for CEREC

First, the doctor will examine the tooth to determine the appropriate treatment. (You may need a crown or you may need just a filling. It depends on the doctor’s clinical judgment.)

Then, you will be given an anesthetic and the doctor will prepare your tooth for restoration.

Optical Impression

CEREC technology uses optical impressions. Optical impressions are easier and more convenient for patients. Instead of filling a tray with impression “goop” that you bite into and hold in your mouth until it hardens, your dentist uses a camera to take a digital picture of your tooth.

No Temporaries

With CEREC technology, there is no such thing as “dental temporaries”. You can get a crown or a filling in the convenience of one appointment meaning that you don’t have to wear a temporary until your crown comes back from the lab.

CEREC Acquisition Unit

The CEREC acquisition unit is mobile and houses a medical-grade computer and the CEREC camera. Instead of having to do tray impressions, the CEREC 3D camera streamlines the process by taking a picture of your mouth to make a filling, crown, or cosmetic veneer without needing to use impression “goop”.

CEREC Milling Unit

The CEREC milling unit creates the filling or crown in about 8 to 18 minutes depending on the size and type of restoration. After the milling is finished, your doctor will polish the finished filling or crown and bond it into place.

CEREC Inlay Restorations

CEREC inlay restorations stabilize the integrity of the tooth, ensure maximum bond strength, and enhance the appearance of the tooth. CEREC inlay restorations form a smooth, tooth-colored replacement of dental material lost to cavities. Using ultramodern CAD/CAM technology, CEREC inlays mimic your tooth’s color and structure exactly.

CEREC Onlay Restorations

CEREC onlays are placed on the tooth to retain the original structure and create a more natural look. Onlays or partial crowns, are more extensive than inlays, and cover the bumps on the tooth surface. The enamel-like material of CEREC mimics the appearance and feel of real teeth.

CEREC Crowns

CEREC crowns enable you to get a crown in a matter of just one visit. Crowns restore the damaged tooth to its original shape, strength, size, or appearance. CEREC crowns preserve a healthy tooth structure while restoring your natural smile.

CEREC Veneers

Veneers, or thin laminates of tooth-colored porcelain, are bonded to the front of teeth, covering the front surface and resulting in an improved appearance. The cosmetic veneers produced by CEREC are custom-designed for each tooth to provide an exact match.

Multiple Restorations

Do you have multiple restorations that need to be done?

With CEREC technology, multiple inlays and onlays can be fabricated, bonded, polished, and installed at once. CEREC technology completes the multiple restorations in one visit, resulting in a beautiful smile in a fraction of the time.

Home Care Instructions

It may take some time to get used to your new dental restoration. Your gums may also be sore for a few days. Warm salt water rinses 3x a day will reduce pain and swelling.
